About the role
Northern Marine Group is seeking a Technical Superintendent for a shore-based role in Clydebank, Glasgow. The position is responsible for the safe, efficient and seaworthy operation of vessels under your control, with close coordination between vessel crews, clients, senior management and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include maintaining vessels in line with company, client, flag state and classification requirements; monitoring technical operations and maintenance; carrying out vessel visits, inspections, audits and drills; providing technical advice; coordinating with classification societies, flag administrations, shipyards, contractors and agents; supporting budgets and cost control; preparing and monitoring dry-docking and repair programmes; supporting casualty response and insurance claim reporting where required; and ensuring vessels are manned with technically competent personnel. Required experience includes sea-going service in an onboard management team at Second Engineer or Chief Officer level, previous onshore shipping operations or technical experience, knowledge of ISM, ISPS and MLC, and experience with tanker vessel operations, maintenance, surveys and dry-docking. Desirable qualifications include Unlimited Chief Engineer or Master Mariner Certificate of Competency in compliance with STCW II/2, a degree in Marine Engineering or Nautical Science, and previous sailing experience as a Chief Engineer or Master.
