About the role

Faststream Recruitment is partnering with an established international ship management company to recruit a Deputy Designated Person Ashore (Deputy DPA) for its team in Busan, South Korea. This shore-based leadership role is suited to an experienced Master Mariner with a background in marine safety, compliance, incident investigation and vessel operations. The role supports the DPA and QSHE leadership team in implementing the Safety Management System, monitoring compliance with maritime regulations, improving safety and operational procedures, investigating marine incidents, supporting audits and risk assessments, and promoting safety, quality, health, security and environmental performance across shore teams and vessels. The successful candidate should hold a Master Mariner licence / Class 1 Certificate of Competency, have at least 2 years’ seagoing command experience, and practical training for the DPA role in accordance with IMO requirements. Strong knowledge of maritime rules and regulations, experience in internal audits, incident investigation and risk management, and strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills are required. Previous shore-based experience in a shipowner or ship management company is advantageous. Professional proficiency in Korean and English is mandatory, and only Korean nationals will be considered.
