About the role
Experienced Ships Agent required for a busy port operations team based in Billingham, supporting vessel calls across the Tyne & Tees region. The role involves coordinating vessels from arrival to departure and working with port authorities, vessel owners, operators, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth port calls. Exposure is provided to a range of shipping sectors including cruise, tanker, dry bulk, container, offshore and project cargo. The successful candidate should have at least 6 months' experience in ship agency, port agency or a similar maritime operations environment, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Responsibilities include coordinating vessel movements and port services, arranging husbandry services and crew changes, managing port documentation, liaising with relevant authorities, updating port call systems, processing invoices and providing operational updates to clients and stakeholders. The role is primarily focused on Tyne & Tees ports, with occasional travel to the Humber region and potentially further afield. It is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position with regular evening and weekend cover on a rota basis.
