About the role
2nd Officer – Cruise, permanent position. Responsible for safe navigation and bridge watchkeeping in accordance with company procedures, STCW, and the Master’s Standing Orders. Duties include monitoring safety, security, environmental requirements, alarms, indicators, and conducting safety rounds; reporting significant events to the Master, Staff Captain, or 1st Officer; maintaining bridge discipline; monitoring gangway security, mooring operations, vessel traffic, and weather in port; supporting tender operations; assisting with crew safety training, drills, and emergency preparedness; maintaining required rest hours; attending meetings and training; and performing other assigned duties. Reports to the 1st Officer, or to the Safety Officer when unavailable. Requirements include Unlimited Officer in Charge of a Navigation Watch (OICNW), STCW-compliant training and certification, and strong spoken and written English. Additional languages are preferred.
