About the role

An established organisation in the maritime sector is seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to join its Ship Management team. The role is responsible for the technical management, maintenance and operational performance of a designated fleet of LNG vessels. The successful candidate will act as the primary technical point of contact for the vessels, working closely with Masters, Chief Engineers, shore-based teams, owners, charterers and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance, repairs, major projects and dry-docking; monitoring Planned Maintenance Systems; managing budgets; ensuring statutory, Class and regulatory compliance; conducting vessel visits and reporting; coordinating surveys, inspections, audits and vetting; managing defects, incidents and root-cause investigations; coordinating service engineers, contractors and technical specialists; procuring stores, spares and technical services; reviewing expenditure; providing technical guidance to vessel leadership; supporting recruitment, promotion and appraisal of senior vessel personnel; and supporting continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong seagoing engineering background combined with shore-based technical management experience, preferably including experience as a 1st Engineer or in a senior engineering position on LNG vessels, along with a relevant marine engineering qualification and knowledge of vessel machinery, maintenance, cargo containment and cargo handling systems. Experience with regasification systems, STS operations, vessel budgets, dry-docking, major repair projects, Class and statutory requirements, and strong stakeholder management skills are advantageous.
