About the role
A leading cruise line is seeking a Fly Operator to manage the daily operation, safety, and maintenance of performer flying equipment onboard, primarily in the ship’s main theatre and other entertainment venues. Responsibilities include operating and calling performer fly sequences during shows and rehearsals, inspecting and maintaining flying gear and harnesses, ensuring only trained and approved performers use aerial systems, supporting rehearsals and performances, assisting with stage resets and automation cueing, supporting headline entertainer show setup, liaising between entertainers and lighting/sound technicians, maintaining a clean and organized stage setup, ensuring venues are show-ready, and upholding high technical and artistic production standards. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in theatre with technical or rigging focus or equivalent experience, at least 4 years of theatrical technical experience including performer flying and backstage rigging, proficiency with motorized rigging systems, winches, and hoists, comfort working at heights, basic audio setup and troubleshooting skills, strong computer skills, and cruise ship or touring experience as a plus. Fluent English and the ability to meet the physical demands of the role are required.
