About the role
Secretary-General – Asian Shipowners' Association (ASA). Executive leadership appointment based in Singapore. ASA is seeking an accomplished maritime leader to serve as Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer of the ASA Secretariat. The role involves leading the Secretariat, supporting the President and Chairmen's Council, coordinating with Member Associations, representing ASA with governments and international organisations when authorised, monitoring maritime and regulatory developments, and overseeing governance, budgets and financial administration. The successful candidate should have substantial senior executive experience in the maritime industry or related institutional environments, strong knowledge of the maritime and Asian shipping landscape, strategic leadership capability, commercial judgement, and the ability to build senior stakeholder relationships. A relevant university degree or equivalent experience is expected; postgraduate qualifications and familiarity with IMO processes would be advantageous. The role is ordinarily based in Singapore and requires international travel. Compensation is SGD 200,000 annual fixed pay, paid over 13 months, plus a variable performance bonus. This is an initial two-year appointment.
