About the role

UTM Consultants are seeking an experienced Winch Operator / Barge Operations Supervisor for a cable-laying vessel operating with an 8-point mooring system. The role involves safe and efficient operation of hydraulic and/or electric winches during anchoring, positioning, and cable-laying activities, in close coordination with the Bridge, Survey team, deck crew, AHTs, and where applicable the Vertical Injector Supervisor. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring winches, managing tensioning and payout of mooring lines, maintaining communication during mooring activities, carrying out pre-start checks and inspections, reporting faults, maintaining operation logs, and supporting deck operations. Candidates should have 2–3+ years of winch operating experience on marine construction and/or cable-lay vessels, proven 8-point mooring experience, and the ability to follow mooring plans and positioning instructions. Mandatory documents and certifications include BOSIET or FOET, OGUK Medical, Working at Height (WAH) for CTV transfers, passport, and relevant role qualifications; Seaman’s Book if held.
