A leading cruise line is seeking a 3rd Engineer to inspect, maintain, and operate machinery to the highest standards. The 3rd Engineer is a licensed watchkeeping officer responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the cruise ship’s engine room equipment and auxiliary systems, reporting to the 2nd Engineer. Duties include standing engine room watch, monitoring and maintaining auxiliary machinery, performing planned maintenance and corrective repairs, recording daily readings and engine room logs, assisting in bunkering operations, following the vessel’s Safety Management System and environmental procedures, ensuring proper operation of fire-fighting and safety equipment, assisting in emergency drills, and working with the engineering and technical crew to ensure smooth operations. Requirements include a valid STCW III/1 Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW) license, valid seafarer documents including STCW certificates, a medical certificate (ENG1 or equivalent), fluency in English, and 1–2 years of experience in a similar position on a seagoing vessel, preferably on passenger or cruise ships. Strong technical and troubleshooting skills, a good understanding of marine engines, pumps, and auxiliary systems, and the ability to work independently and in a team are required.
