About the role

General Manager - Offshore Ship Management. Faststream Recruitment is partnering with an established and growing ship management organisation to appoint a General Manager for a key leadership position. Managing a fleet of offshore vessels, this role requires a commercially minded maritime leader who can drive operational excellence while identifying opportunities for business growth, client development, and long-term strategic success. Reporting directly to the MD, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the management and performance of the organisation, providing leadership across marine operations, technical management, HSEQ, commercial activities, and business development. Key responsibilities include leading the overall operations and strategic direction of the company; driving business growth through client engagement, commercial development, and identifying new opportunities; developing and maintaining strong relationships with vessel owners, charterers, and key industry stakeholders; providing leadership and direction to senior management teams across operational and support functions; ensuring high standards of safety, quality, environmental compliance, and operational performance; overseeing the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's management systems; supporting commercial decision-making and contributing to fleet utilisation and profitability; chairing management review meetings and leading emergency response activities when required; and ensuring the organisation is appropriately resourced to meet operational and commercial objectives. Requirements include proven experience in a senior leadership role within ship management, marine services, or offshore vessel operations; a strong offshore maritime background; demonstrated success in business development, client management, and commercial strategy; a strong understanding of technical, operational, and HSEQ requirements within the maritime sector; the ability to balance commercial objectives with safe and efficient vessel operations; experience managing multidisciplinary teams and leading organisational growth; and degree qualification or equivalent maritime industry experience.
