A maritime organisation in Amsterdam is recruiting an HR Manager – Planning & Recruitment to lead workforce planning and recruitment activities for shipboard personnel. This office-based role is responsible for ensuring vessels are manned with qualified crew and supporting safe, compliant, and efficient fleet operations. The position combines strategic manpower planning, recruitment, crew coordination, and broader HR support functions. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining long-term crew planning strategies, ensuring vessels are staffed in line with company requirements and manning matrices, coordinating urgent crew replacements, arranging additional personnel when operational requirements demand, and managing the full recruitment lifecycle for shipboard personnel. The role also involves sourcing candidates through manning agencies and other recruitment channels, conducting interviews and screenings, building talent pipelines, and supporting employer branding and recruitment marketing initiatives. Requirements include previous experience in maritime HR, crewing, recruitment, or workforce planning; a strong understanding of shipboard manning requirements and crew scheduling; experience recruiting seafarers and working with manning agencies; knowledge of STCW, certification, and crewing compliance requirements; strong organisational and stakeholder management skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment; excellent communication skills and attention to detail; and fluent English.
