Faststream is recruiting an experienced Marine Mechanical Engineer to support a major engineering programme in Portsmouth. The role involves work on complex ship lifting, handling, and launch & recovery systems, supporting the design and development of specialist maritime equipment. It includes mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems, detailed design, engineering calculations, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary system integration. This is a 6+ month contract with potential for extension, based in Portsmouth with hybrid working, and offers a competitive hourly rate depending on experience. Requirements include prior experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the marine, naval, defence, or wider engineering sector; strong mechanical design experience; experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electro-mechanical systems; ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; experience with 3D CAD and detailed mechanical design; understanding of system requirements, design load cases, and engineering calculations; and a degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Engineering, or a related discipline. UK SC security clearance eligibility is required.
