Faststream is recruiting an experienced Marine Mechanical Engineer for a major engineering programme in Portsmouth. The role supports the design and development of specialist maritime equipment, including ship lifting, handling, and launch and recovery systems. Work will involve mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems, detailed design, engineering calculations, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary system integration. This is a 6+ month contract with potential for extension, based in Portsmouth with hybrid working and a competitive hourly rate. Requirements include experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the marine, naval, defence, or wider engineering sector; strong mechanical design experience; experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electro-mechanical systems; ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; experience with 3D CAD and detailed mechanical design; understanding of system requirements, design load cases, and engineering calculations; and eligibility to obtain UK SC security clearance.
