About the role

Responsible for providing technical support across electrical, instrumentation, automation and marine communication/navigation systems for an assigned group of vessels. The role supports safe, reliable and commercially effective fleet operations, working closely with vessel management teams and attending vessels when required for planned maintenance, upgrades, repairs, inspections, commissioning and operational trials. Key responsibilities include providing specialist technical guidance across vessel electrical, instrumentation, automation and communication/navigation systems; promoting safety, environmental and operational standards; ensuring compliance with company procedures, engineering standards and regulatory requirements; acting as a technical focal point for complex EIA-related matters, particularly within gas shipping operations; supporting fleet engineering standards and maintenance practices; reviewing technical specifications and work scopes; providing technical input into safety, quality and incident-management processes; ensuring modifications are assessed, documented and controlled; troubleshooting defects and operational issues; supporting capital expenditure projects and fleet improvement initiatives; attending vessels, shipyards and project locations as necessary; assisting with the assessment, recruitment and development of Electro-Technical Officers and other relevant marine personnel; reviewing operational and maintenance information to identify recurring issues; developing maintenance strategies and best practices; coordinating technical investigations and specialist engineering projects; and contributing to newbuilding, retrofit and conversion projects. Requirements include formal education or professional training within electrical engineering or a closely related discipline; strong understanding of marine electrical, instrumentation and automation systems; previous experience within the maritime sector, either at sea, ashore or both; good understanding of vessel technical operations and planned maintenance; awareness of marine technology, class requirements and industry regulations; strong communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to work with shore-based management teams and seagoing personnel; a practical, solutions-focused approach; and existing right to live and work in the UK. Previous exposure to gas carriers, including LNG or related liquefied-gas vessels, would be advantageous.
