Faststream Recruitment is supporting an established International Group P&I Club in hiring a Claims Manager to join its Hong Kong or Shanghai team. The role involves managing a portfolio of P&I and related maritime claims for the Club's Asian membership, providing commercially focused claims advice, and working closely with shipowners, charterers, brokers, correspondents, lawyers, surveyors, and other external service providers. Responsibilities include handling claims from notification through investigation, negotiation, settlement, and closure; assessing liability, quantum, coverage, and reserves; instructing external specialists; maintaining accurate records and reporting; supporting underwriting and loss prevention; and representing the Club at industry meetings and member visits. The successful candidate should have around 3 years' PQE and experience in P&I claims, marine insurance claims, shipping, or a closely related maritime legal environment, with strong knowledge of P&I principles, Club Rules, and maritime liabilities. Experience with FD&D and P&I claims, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and legal, maritime, or insurance qualifications would be advantageous. English, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin language capability would be beneficial for the Mainland Chinese market.
