Expiry Date: 06 November 2026 Contact Email: shown after sign-in Contact Phone: shown after sign-in Duration: Full time, 1 year term with possible extension Start Date: As soon as possible We are seeking an experienced Port Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, compliance, and operational readiness of a modern fleet of research vessels supporting world-class offshore and scientific operations. This is a full time, term position of 1 year with the possibility of extension. This is a rare opportunity to join a technically sophisticated and mission-driven organization operating cutting-edge marine assets, including a newly commissioned flagship vessel supporting deep-sea exploration, robotics, and advanced ocean research. The successful candidate will act as the primary technical liaison between vessel crews and shore-side management, ensuring vessels remain fully operational, compliant, and mission ready. Key Responsibilities Manage planned and corrective maintenance programs across the fleet Lead drydock periods, refits, and shipyard repair projects Coordinate contractors, vendors, and technical procurement activities Support vessel crews with engineering troubleshooting and technical guidance Monitor vessel performance, equipment reliability, and maintenance planning Ensure compliance with USCG, ISM, SOLAS, and Class requirements Prepare vessels for inspections, surveys, and audits Manage maintenance budgets and technical documentation Support and lead marine engineering personnel and technical teams Requirements Degree qualified in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related discipline Previous shore-side marine engineering or technical superintendent experience Strong understanding of vessel maintenance, marine systems, and shipyard operations Experience managing drydock and repair projects USCG Engineer Officer license required, a 3rd Assistant Engineer (3A/E) unlimited license or higher, with international endorsement preferred Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Previous research vessel, offshore, government, or specialist vessel experience advantageous Package Salary: $180,000 – $230,000 Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance 403(b) retirement plan Generous paid time off Long-term career opportunity within an advanced marine operations environment
