About the role
The Client is a renewable energy platform funded by one of the world’s leading infrastructure asset manager. Based in Tokyo, Japan, the Business Development Lead will be responsible for the end-to-end origination and commercial structuring of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The role involves originating and securing new renewable energy opportunities through self-origination, tender participation, acquisitions, and partnerships; building and managing an investable opportunity pipeline; developing trusted engagement with government authorities; monitoring regulatory and policy developments; managing relationships with industry stakeholders; leading commercial discussions and negotiations for PPAs, CPPAs, term sheets, MOUs, and acquisition agreements; coordinating tender bid processes; and leading cross-functional teams through feasibility, due diligence, and PPA negotiations. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, 10+ years of experience across renewable energy, power, or infrastructure sectors, a proven track record in origination, tender participation, acquisitions, and PPA/CPPA negotiation, and strong familiarity with renewable energy market structures and regulatory frameworks in the country.
