About the role

The Berkshire Gas Company, an Avangrid Company, is seeking a Technical Trainer for its Gas Engineering & Operations department in Adams, MA. This office-based role develops, delivers, and administers technical training for Gas Operations personnel, including curriculum development, training materials, scheduling and documentation management, training effectiveness evaluation, and coordination with Operations and subject matter experts. The position supports technical training for natural gas distribution and transmission systems, including operations, maintenance, construction, and emergency response, and works with classroom, field-based, virtual, and blended learning formats. Responsibilities also include monitoring adherence to operating procedures and safety requirements, staying current on industry codes and regulatory changes, participating in incident reviews and root cause analyses, partnering with internal teams to align training with business needs, and evaluating trainee performance and coaching. Required qualifications include 3+ years in the natural gas industry or another relevant technical trade, a relevant associate or bachelor’s degree, knowledge of natural gas properties, pipeline construction and maintenance, gas safety regulations, 49 CFR Parts 191, 192, and 193, MA 220 CMR, operator qualification programs, and prior training experience. Preferred qualifications include a completed apprentice program or other relevant trade qualifications, plus strong mentor, leadership, and communication skills.
