About the role

Avangrid Power is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician for onsite operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment at a wind powered generation plant. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining wind turbine equipment and associated infrastructure, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing component repairs or replacements, preventive maintenance, data collection and reporting, retrofits and design modifications, QA/QC functions, and supporting construction walk-downs when applicable. Additional duties include working overtime or on-call as needed, traveling to other sites on short notice, working around low, medium, and high voltage, and performing tasks in adverse weather conditions. Requirements include a technical school certificate or related experience or wind industry training, a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment, advanced computer skills, ability to climb towers up to 100 meters, lift heavy items, work with electrical wiring, interpret instructions, solve practical problems, and knowledge of heavy equipment, crane, and rigging requirements. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required. Preferred experience includes power plant operations and maintenance, wind and solar plant construction, operation, and maintenance, high voltage switching, and related electrical and mechanical experience.
